Euro conversion is NOT the same as Y2K ageing
Date ageing is a discrete transformation - addition or subtraction of integer days
Euro conversion is a multiplication and/or a division with decimals
Inevitable rounding errors
- discrete price points e.g. 4.99
- detail and total reconciliations
Notes:
The problem with the euro is that it is not simply an integer shift of date values (often date serial numbers) forward or backward. It involves multiplication by conversion factors with up to six decimal places, and division by those factors which gives non-terminating decimals.
That should alter us to the possibility of rounding errors.
